Well, I had a little time so I got some site work done. First you'll probably notice the banner. I'm not a graphic artist so I'm just trying what I can. Second I'll be using this post to test the comment sections, feel free to test it out as well. The biggest addition is the forums, or Phorums, LOL! They're still a work in progress but feel free to use them. I'm working on Twitter and Facebook integration.
Also, I'll be needing any Phantoms related photos, videos or artwork anyone may want to contribute. I'm open to article submissions as well. Drop me a line at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

A few Phantom players have shown up at NHL rookie/developmental camps and have popped up in the news as of lately
First off the Washington Post has a great article on Nathan Walker at the Washington Capitals developmental camp. I'd sure like to see Stormy be the first Aussie to play in the NHL but I'd sure like to see him back on the Phantoms bench this season. Last seasons leading goal scorer for the Phantoms, Sam Anas, is also at the Caps camp.
Caps prospect Nathan Walker hopes to put Australia on hockey map
Update 9/10/13 6:27PM EST: Stormy made the initial Caps roster!
Next off: John Padulo, a villain with Muskegon two years ago with Muskegon turned hero last season, has been working hard on landing a spot on the San Jose sharks. They recently put up a video interview on their official site.

Sorry for the lateness of the recap but my job occupied my Sunday and RealLife® my Monday. I would have loved to see this one on FASTHockey, since it was the first game against an Eastern conference team, but I didn't. This is all from Pointstreak and Twitter.
It looks like the first 2 periods were and even affair with Cedar Rapids RoughRiders taking a 1-0 lead early in the 2nd and the Phantoms tying it up late in the period on a Matt Miller goal, assists to Ryan Schwalbe and Josh Melnick. Maxim Lutunov put the Phantoms up 2-1 early in the 3rd with Zack Evancho and Josh Nenadal assisting. Cedar Rapids tallied the next three goals to take a 4-2 lead. Blake Christensen cut the deficit to just a goal with an unassisted goal but with just over three minutes left the RoughRiders added an insurance goal to seal the deal.
Jake Moore made 25 saves on 30 shots in the tilt, his second start in as many nights, but being out shot 16-6 in the last frame, the Phantoms look like they were just a little tired and overwhelmed. Overall, he had a decent weekend as did the Phantoms with two wins and a loss. Again, this is just pre-season but we have a lot of positive going into next weekends Eastern Conference Fall Classic and the September 20th season opener.
